Rachel Beth Egenhoefer is a design professor, sustainability researcher, systems leader, and critical maker who uses design as a tool for social change.
In addition to teaching part-time at Presidio, she is a full-time Professor in Design at the University of San Francisco, where she has taught since 2009. Egenhoefer is the editor of the 2017 Routledge Handbook of Sustainable Design, and its 2nd edition is set to be published in late 2023. As a leader in sustainable and regenerative design practices, she has moderated AIGA’s Compostmodern series and lectured extensively, including at Design Activists for Regenerative Futures, Global Climate Action Summit, ASHEE’s Sustainability across the Curriculum, PALS (Partners in Academic Leadership), Design Educators Forum, and many other institutions globally. Her writing on Regenerative Futures attempts to link academic thought and industry practice for everyone else.
