Certificate Programs

PresidioPRO offers several specialized certificate options for professionals looking to advance their career through training in sustainable management. Currently, PGS offers three different certificates:

Certificate in Sustainable Management

The Sustainable Management Certificate Program provides an opportunity for working professionals to become familiar with the language and tools of sustainable management and systems thinking. It enables students who may be already educated in tools of conventional business management, especially if you already have an MBA, to come up to speed quickly in your familiarity with the language and tools of sustainability. You can choose between five separate tracks allowing you to focus on a specific skill set or competency.

Certificate in Sustainable Energy Management

The Certificate in Sustainable Energy Management explores energy technologies within a framework of social and environmental stewardship on a global scale. The Certificate requires two courses: Principles of Sustainable Management and Sustainable Energy Management. This Certificate is the first in a planned series of Certificates in the Cleantech Management Certificate Program (CMCP).

Certificate in Sports and Sustainability (Currently on hiatus)

The Certificate in Sports and Sustainability is the only MBA-level sustainability program focused exclusively on the sports industry, providing sports industry professionals with the skills and knowledge to successfully integrate sustainability into their business operations. The Certificate requires two semester-long courses: Principles of Sustainable Management and The Business of Sports and Sustainability.

Learning Methods

The Certificate program combines the effectiveness of face-to-face learning with the convenience and efficiency of distance learning. Each semester the program is comprised of monthly four-day weekends of intensive interpersonal instruction in a classroom setting. On-site learning is combined with a robust, interactive online component, conference calls, readings, team-oriented assignments and projects with real companies. Certificate students generally attend PGS as part-time students, registering for one or two courses a semester. Students attend residency weekends for one or two days a month, and each class is a full seven hours of instruction. These residencies occur anywhere from Thursday through Sunday, one week a month.

Minimum Academic Standard

To be awarded a Certificate, a candidate must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) of 3.0 after completing all courses required for the certificate. If a candidate does not achieve the cGPA minimum, they will not be granted a Certificate. All candidates are subject to PGS Add/Drop and Withdrawal deadlines. Certificate candidates are not eligible for Leaves of Absence or the issuing of incomplete grades.
