Jeff Rangel, MBA
Adjunct Professor
Jeff has more than 20 years of interdisciplinary leadership experience helping companies align their vision and values with environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives that deliver value to the business and its stakeholder ecosystem. A proven team leader, collaborator, problem-solver and systems-thinker, Jeff is passionate about co-creating shared successes and good corporate citizenship practices.
Most recently, Jeff led the Corporate Responsibility (CR) strategies for Palo Alto Networks, the leading cybersecurity company. During a period of consistent growth (in 2018 to 2023, worldwide headcount increased from ~5,000 to over 14,000 and annual revenue grew from $2.2B to $7.2B), Jeff developed, executed, measured and reported on Palo Alto Networks’ overall ESG strategies and performance, which demonstrated year-over-year improvement across multiple ESG rating entities. He led the company’s decarbonization strategies and delivered social impact programs that uplifted and helped protect youth and communities. He Chaired the ESG Steering Committee, a cross-functional executive team responsible for achieving the company’s ESG goals. Jeff reported to the Chief People Officer and was accountable to the ESG Executive Council and the ESG & Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors.
Prior to Palo Alto Networks, Jeff held similar roles in companies, including Brocade Communications Systems, Inc., Applied Materials, Entrepreneurs Foundation and Wyse Technology. In addition to his corporate experience, Jeff has actively engaged in coalitions including the World Economic Forum’s CEO Alliance for Climate Leaders and ESG Stakeholder
Advisory, the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship’s ESG Reporting Advisory Board, and has provided guest lectures on ESG practices.
Jeff lives on the Monterey Peninsula with his husband Tony, and enjoys coastal walks and cycling.
