Cynthia Lang

Philanthropist, Strategist, and Dot Connector

Cynthia Lang is a seasoned fundraiser and connector who coordinates engagement activities and strategic conversations with colleagues in the Bay Area and all over the world. She has deep familiarity with Brazil, its business culture and language; a keen interest in promoting social enterprise work. Many of Cindy’s Brazilian interests relate to Afro-Brazilian engagement, advocacy, and mentoring. In 2013, Cindy founded Go to Girl Enterprises, the umbrella organization under which all her ventures and passions fall. 

Cindy serves on the Board of Action for India, Sustainable Conservation’s Advisory Board, and has been an Advisor to Embrace, a global enterprise that delivers low-cost solutions to improve health outcomes in developing countries. Cindy is a Mentor at Santa Clara University’s Miller Center to social entrepreneurs who promote social inclusion to refugees who have been relocated to Amsterdam and Kenya. Cindy is currently an active member of its Anti-Bias Working Group. 

Cindy’s environmental interest extends beyond the Bay Area. For 10 years, she was an owner of a ranch in Montana where she and her family implemented many novel conservation practices.

Cindy also has strong philanthropic ties to Stanford, having served on the Stanford Associates Board of Governors, the Humanities and Sciences Council, and currently on the Institute for Research in Social Sciences (IRiSS) Advisory Board and its Center on Poverty and Inequality. She has been an Admissions Reader for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars selection team since its Inaugural class, 5 years ago, and a Stanford OVAL volunteer, interviewing prospective freshmen applicants from Brazil. In 2017, Cindy joined the Black Angel Tech Fund Team as National Market Captain and Special Advisor.

A seasoned fundraiser, Cindy is skilled at building relationships and communicating organizations’ missions to lay people. She is a strategist who uses stakeholder engagement and mapping to create an impact where she works. 

Cindy received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University in French and English Literatures and her MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School. She uses her skills to create socially and environmentally responsible infrastructures. She is certified by the International Coach Federation and has credentials in the Designing Your Life framework and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion coaching. She is a DEI trainer. Cindy is passionate about travel and considers herself to be a global citizen.  Cindy is fluent in Portuguese and French and is conversant in Spanish.
