Barbara Karlin

Barbara Karlin is Vice President Emerita and professor of tax law at Golden Gate University (GGU), where she has served in various capacities since 1983. She returned to the faculty in 2020 after serving as Vice President of Academic Affairs for 18 years.
Barbara has extensive experience reviewing institutions on behalf of WASC Senior University and Colleges Commission (WSCUC), the organization that accredits universities in California. Barbara was elected and served as a WSCUC commissioner from 2010-2016. Her experience in accreditation established her as an expert in assessing quality and rigor in educational programs.
Barbara is a certified public accountant (inactive) and a member of the California state bar (inactive). She holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University.
